Professional Oboe Reeds are premium quality reeds made with carefully selected high-standard material for intermediate and professional players who have high expectation on the performance of the reeds. These reeds have very good balance between tone and speed.

Note :
- “U scrape” is the “standard” European scrape style (some call it the Germany style, or the “short scrape”).
Quite a lot of players are also used to the “W scrape”, which has a deeper scrape down the reed, and they find this style more controllable at the lower notes.
We developed in-house our improved American style reeds after long period of research. They are easier to play, more responsive and have a nice dark tone. (Some customers who are used to the American style also like the W scrape, according to our sales statistics.)
- Tone & Play Style: Most players love a “darkest possible” tone. But the practical reality is, “darkness” and “speed” are often trade-off of each other. Also, to produce a darker tone may consume more energy of the player, which might affect the stamina of the player. And depending on the playing situation, e.g. length of performance (15 min vs 2 hours?) or the type of music (e.g. solo vs symphony), a “faster” or a “darker” reed might be preferred.Therefore, most serious oboists have both types of reeds in their reed cases. We also recommend our customers to purchase and practice with both play styles.
- “Standard Length” refers to the length of the reed which readily produces notes at 440 to 442 during testing. (Different scrapes have different standard lengths, theoretically.) However, different oboes may have slightly different measurements which might work better with slightly different reed lengths. Basically, if you’re consistently flat, you need a shorter reed. Vice versa, if you’re consistently sharp, you need a longer reed.
