Student Oboe Reeds are high quality reeds designed to be easy to play and easy to manage for student players. These reeds works very well with student oboe models, and produce a beautiful tone.
Note :
- “U scrape” is the “standard” European scrape style (some call it the Germany style, or the “short scrape”). But quite a lot of players are also used to the “W scrape”, which has a deeper scrape down the reed, and they find this style more controllable at the lower notes.We developed in-house our improved American style reeds after long period of research. They are easier to play, more responsive and have a nice dark tone. (Some customers who are used to the American style also like the W scrape, according to our sales statistics.)
- “Easy Play” is the standard strength for Student Reeds. This is the hardness which allow most student players to play comfortably and don’t have to warm up for too long or soak the reed in water for too long. “Very Easy Play” is slightly softer than “Easy Play”.
“Super Easy Play” is a strength specially made for junior beginners (for example below 10 years old), who have limited lungs and muscles development but who want to enjoy learning the oboe. - “Standard Length” refers to the length of the reed which readily produces notes at 440 to 442 during testing. (Different scrapes have different standard lengths, theoretically.)However, different oboes may have slightly different measurements which might work better with slightly different reed lengths. Basically, if you’re consistently flat, you need a shorter reed. Vice versa, if you’re consistently sharp, you need a longer reed.
